The objective of this booklet is to provide some guidance, or at least a warning, of things you might consider to both prevent or postpone dementia symptoms before they appear and/or handle symptoms of dementia when they first appear.

This booklet is divided into three sections.

1. Ideas to Motivate Sisters to Prevent or Postpone Dementia: This section provides a brief look at how we might leverage lifestyle and religious practices to build resilience against dementia and maintain an aging Sister’s independence in living.

2. Decision-Making Guide for Skilled Care Transition: This section addresses one of the hardest decisions in dementia care: when should the Sister with dementia be relocated to best accommodate her and her Sisters’ well-being.

3. Accompanying Sisters Through Cognitive Decline with Life Story Tools: This section introduces a practical, five step approach for accompanying a Sister through cognitive decline using a life story–based method.
