This program will take participants through the proper response to a fire in a long-term care facility and directly correlate how required Life Safety features complement the fire procedures. From the initial actions upon discovery of a fire, through staff, leadership and fire department response, common K-Tag cited and related fire protection features will be discussed. 
1.0 CE Hour.

Learning Outcome(s):
Following this webinar, participants will be able to:
  • Identify the required and best practices related to fire procedures in a long-term care facility and how required Life Safety Code features complement fire procedure and response. 

Criteria for Successful Completion
To receive continuing education credits, participants must watch the entire webinar, record and submit verification codes, and submit an evaluation form. A certificate of attendance will be available after the webinar.

Jensen Hughes

Dave is a Senior Advisor and Technical Fellow with Jensen Hughes, where he applies his decades long expertise in healthcare fire safety, life safety and emergency preparedness to various projects and advocacy efforts. Dave served as the President of the legacy firm, RPA, prior to the company being acquired by Jensen Hughes in 2017. Dave is a past Chairman of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Health Care Section Executive Board and currently serves as the Chair of the NFPA Health Care Section Education Committee. Dave is also a former principal member on the Life Safety Code® Technical Committee on Health Care Occupancies.

Dave commonly presents at various conferences and forums, including but not limited to, the National Fire Protection Association’s World Safety Conference (NFPA), the Fire Department Instructor’s Conference (FDIC), the annual American Society for Healthcare Engineering Conference (ASHE), and the annual American Health Care Association (AHCA) Conference . He provides specialized consulting to both the American Health Care Association and LeadingAge. Dave also has fire service experience in Prince George’s County, MD and Monroe County, NY. He is the past Chief of the Honeoye Falls Fire Department located in suburban Rochester, NY.

Dave has a degree in Fire Protection Engineering from the University of Maryland and is a member of the NFPA, the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE) and the American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE).
