Collecting, Cluttering, or Hoarding?

The excess accumulation of material goods is a growing challenge among men and women religious. This presentation will identify symptoms and characteristics of the spectrum of hoarding disorder: Collecting, cluttering, and hoarding. It will address the causes of and reasons for the condition and define specific questions to ask when a cluttering or hoarding disorder is suspected. An individual with this particular disorder presents with several cognitive distortions about the behavior, and these will be identified and explored along with possible treatment options.

Sr. Luann Brown is a Sister of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary (BVM), a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and a Certified Addictions Counselor (CADC).  She has worked as a counselor at Presence Behavioral Health in Melrose Park, IL and as a teacher for children with learning disabilities and ADHD in Chicago, St. Louis, and Ecuador.  Sr. Luann currently resides in Clarkston, MI and ministers at Guest House in Lake Orion, MI as a therapist and Continuing Care Coordinator for the women’s program.
