Webinar Description
Palliative Care is developing into a specialized area of medicine as interdisciplinary teams are created with the primary focus of symptom management, while utilizing the patient and family as a unit of care. Dr. Comfort will discuss types of pain and how to evaluate them for pain management recourses. The use of opioids will be explored.
This webinar will be a live session from our long-term care conference, "Compassion, Comfort, and Compliance in Long-Term Care." The webinar will feature footage of the speaker and the presentation slides.

Christopher Comfort, MD
Medical Director, Calvary Hospital
Christopher P. Comfort joined Calvary Hospital as Medical Director in 1999. Calvary is the nation’s only fully accredited acute care specialty hospital devoted exclusively to providing palliative care to adult advanced cancer patients.
Prior to Calvary, Dr. Comfort practiced general and geriatric medicine from his practice in the Bronx, NY. He has been an Attending Physician at numerous hospitals in New York including Bronx Municipal Hospital Center, Morningside Nursing Facility, Montefiore Medical Center, Weiler Division, Westchester Square Hospital Center, and Sound Shore Medical Center. He has been an Instructor in Internal Medicine and continues to serve as an Attending Teaching Physician at Bronx Municipal Hospital Center.
In 1985, Dr. Comfort received the Leo Davidoff Award for Teaching Excellence and is active in the Albert Einstein College of Medicine Mentorship Program. He has been a consultant to several major health insurance companies and is a frequent speaker at programs for community groups as well as medical professionals.
Dr. Comfort graduated from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California and the St. Louis University School of Medicine. He completed an Internship and Residency at Bronx Municipal Hospital Center and is board certified in Internal Medicine (1987) and Geriatrics (1995). Dr. Comfort was a member of the Metropolitan Physicians Practice Association where he served as Secretary, Vice-President, and President. He resides in Westchester County, NY.
